SIR was engaged to conduct a detailed landscape audit of the products and services that Cox could deliver through that existing relationship to help older adults stay in their homes and age-in-place.

From simple bracelets that monitor and report falls in the home to two-way video telemedicine, the aging-in-place technology market is set to expand rapidly as Boomers reach age 65 and beyond. Our comprehensive market audit concluded that the biggest long-term opportunity segment is not in personal health and safety, but in social connections and engagement.

However, the low-hanging fruit for a cable company with operators standing by, a monthly billing system in place, and installers in the field was home security monitoring, which Cox developed and implemented.
